Information on Family and Marriage Counseling in Nairobi Kenya
What is counselling?

Counselling is a process of talking through personal problems with a fully qualified professional counsellor in order to understand the difficulties and feelings they create within us. It provides a safe environment to explore our problems, manage our realtionships better and move forward in our lives.

Will it be confidential?

All sessions are confidential, whether the setting is face to face, online or telephone. The code of ethics is practised to maintain client confidentiality

What are the typical emotional problems or issues?

Anxiety, stress, depression, anger, life crisis, relationship problems, bereavement and loss, low self-esteem, emotional and physical abuse, addicition, phobias, domestic violence, self-harm and confidence. This is just an illustrated list and may not include your problem or concern, but please do not hesitate to talk to us about it.

How many sessions will I need?

This will depend on your personal needs and circumstances. An initial discussion with the counsellor will provide an indication. Therapy will be regularly reviewed to stay focused and make sure your needs are being met. Face to face counselling normally happens for 45 mintues once a week, and this can be the same for telephone counselling.

What happens in a session?

The session is totally devoted to what you want to talk about. The counsellor will use an individually taylored technique and approach to suit your particular needs or concerns.

What happens if I cannot attend a session?

If you are unable to make a session, please give 48 hours notice by either phone or email, and you will not be charged. Your session can then be rearranged to a more suitable time. If you are unable to provide 48 hours notice to cancel you will still be charged for the session.

How do I know which service I need?

If you are unsure which service you need, please email or call us with a brief outline of your problem so that we can plan how to work with you in a way that is most appropriate and benefical to you. You will not be charged until a counselling service has been decided upon and sessions have been agreed.
